Putting it all together
Now that we’ve discussed several different network topologies as well as scheduling backup jobs
and snapshots, let’s tie everything together in a final example. For this example, we’ll use a local
ReadyNAS to host backup jobs and a remote ReadyNAS whose data we want to back up. We’ll
backup snapshots from the remote device to the local device on a daily basis using Rsync.
Furthermore, we want the ability to restore up to a week's worth of changes.
1. Set up your network
Use the discussion presented earlier in this guide to choose a network topology. Make
sure the devices can communicate properly by testing connections thoroughly.
2. Schedule a snapshot
On the remote device, schedule a snapshot to occur once a day on each day of the week,
as shown in Figure Q.
